Mini Car & Bike Rental
Visitors cannot rent full-size cars in Bermuda. Instead you can rent a two-seat electric mini-car, or a moped, scooter or bicycle. You will need a valid driving licence and a credit card; check each company's age limits when you book.
Mini-cars
| Company | What they rent |
|---|---|
| Current Vehicles | Renault Twizy and Yoyo. Book online; free charging points island-wide. |
| Bermuda Rental Car | Anaig Quick and Mini Max (part of Oleander Cycles). |
| Bermi Car Rentals | The Bermi Swizzle, with air conditioning and room for luggage. |
| Rugged Rentals | The Gem. Pick-up and return at the airport. |
Mopeds, scooters, bicycles and e-bikes
| Company | What they rent |
|---|---|
| Oleander Cycles | Mopeds, scooters and bicycles. Nearest branches: Dockyard and Cambridge Beaches. |
| Scooter Mart | Scooters and electric bikes, at Dockyard. |
| Smatt's Cycle Livery | Scooters and bicycles; a family business since 1949. |
Bicycles are welcome on the Bermuda Railway Trail, which starts in Somerset close to us and is the safest and most scenic place to ride. New rules for e-bikes (licensing, insurance and approved helmets) come in from the end of October 2026, so if you hire an e-bike, ask the hire company where you may ride it. Mopeds and scooters are only for experienced riders: our roads are narrow and busy, so please take great care.
Remember: we drive on the left (UK-style) • the speed limit is 22 mph (35 km/h) • seatbelts in cars and helmets on mopeds are compulsory.
Taxis, Minibuses & Ride Apps
There is no Uber or Lyft in Bermuda, but taxis are easy to book with a local app. Taxi fares are set by the government and charged on the meter; the apps may add a small booking fee.
| App | What it does |
|---|---|
| HITCH | Book and pay for a taxi from your phone; Bermuda's longest-running taxi app. |
| Journi | Run by the Bermuda Taxi Owners & Operators Association. Book now or schedule ahead, track your driver and pay in the app. |
| Ride.bm | Bermuda Island Taxi's app, 24 hours. You can also book by phone on (441) 295-4141. |
For a group, or plenty of luggage, book a minibus: contact Paul Trew on (441) 504-1448 or trewtransport@hotmail.com. For the airport, and drivers who know our units, see Airport & Taxi Information.
Public Transport
Bermuda's buses and ferries are run together as Shorelink, an easy and economical way to get around. Passes work on both, and you can buy tickets and passes in the Shorelink app. For timetables, fares, a trip planner and the live bus map, see Shorelink.
Buses - our bus stop
The bus stop is just yards from Watford Studios, on routes 7 (South Shore and its famous beaches) and 8 (Middle Road). Both run between Hamilton and Dockyard. Buses marked 'Somerset' end two stops short of us, in Somerset Village, a three-minute walk away.
To get home, wait at a blue pole for a 7 or 8 bus showing Dockyard or Somerset (from Dockyard itself, any bus leaving Dockyard will do).
Bus tips
Bus stops are marked by a pole, sometimes with a small shelter. A pink pole means the bus is going into Hamilton; a blue pole means it is going out of Hamilton. Stand by the pole so the driver can see you. Ask the driver to tell you when you reach your stop and sit near the front.
Ferries
The Watford Bridge ferry stop (Green Route) is a few steps from our units. It is a commuter ferry, running mornings and early evenings only. The Dockyard ferry (Blue Route) runs all day and is a 10-12 minute bus ride away.
Ferry to St. George's (Orange Route) – summer only
From early April until the winter schedule starts, a ferry runs between Dockyard and St. George's, Monday to Saturday (no Sunday service). It is a lovely way to see the island from the water.
| Leave Dockyard | Leave St. George's | |
|---|---|---|
| Mon, Wed, Thu & Sat | 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm | 10:30 am, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm |
| Tue & Fri | 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 3:00 pm | 10:30 am, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm |
The winter schedule usually starts in the first week of November (it began on 3 November in 2025) and runs until early April. The St. George's ferry does not run in winter: take the Blue Route ferry to Hamilton, then a bus (routes 1, 3, 10 or 11) to St. George's. Times are from the summer 2026 schedule; please check Shorelink before you travel.
